Senior Design Engineer

We are hiring a Design Engineer for our Rudder Engineering team in Ålesund. You will join a dynamic team to sell, design, make and deliver high-performance rudders.

Your main tasks will include engineering design, reviewing project drawings, product maintenance, following up on manufacturing, purchasing and quality control, handling quality concessions and providing aftermarket support. Managing these tasks well and working with different teams will be key to your success. Due to planned retirements there will be a need for a new person to lead the Engineering to Order team. This will be taken into account when selecting the successful candidate.

Key Accountabilities

• General design work for rudders

• Mechanical construction and modelling

• Calculation/Dimensioning

• Project Work and Project Management

• Teamwork across the business

• Be part of product and process improvement projects

• Provide engineering support to activities related to manufacturing, purchase and quality

• Provide engineering support to our Sales and Contract Management teams

• Provide technical documentation

Qualifications and experience

• Master or Bachelor Engineering degree

• Relevant experience from yard or other mechanical background

• Experience from 3D design tools. We are using NX

• Experience or knowledge with dimensioning tools, i.e. FEA

• Experience from manufacturing or maritime industry is an advantage

• Demonstrate specialist knowledge and expertise in own area
